Charles Marion Russell (1864-1926) is, along with Frederic Remington, one of the greatest painters of the American West. He painted over 2,000 paintings depicting cowboys, Indians and late 19th century Wild West landscapes. Settled very early in Montana, he was a real "cowboy" and was an adopted brother of the Blackfoot tribe. His oils, watercolors and bronzes reflect an intimate knowledge of his subjects.
